Kang Won Kim brings extensive field experience as a civil society advocate. He has deep expertise in human rights, disability rights, abuse and discrimination, human trafficking, mental health, and access to justice. His work on international development cooperation projects in Uganda and Mongolia further enhanced his practical capabilities and global perspective on human rights issues.
Mr. Kim has played a leading role in numerous strategic public interest litigation matters involving disability discrimination and has contributed to institutional reforms aimed at protecting marginalized populations. He was instrumental in establishing critical advocacy infrastructure, including the National Center for Disabled Children and Developmental Disabilities, the Disability Rights Advocacy Agency, shelters for victims with disabilities, and support organizations for survivors of human trafficking.
In his current role, as the Deputy Director at DLG’s Public Interest and Human Rights Center, Mr. Kim leads initiatives focused on developing manuals and guidelines to improve access to justice for persons with disabilities, training judicial personnel, conducting legal research on the rights of disabled victims and suspects, and promoting systems-level reform.
