Jay Shin is a Senior Foreign Attorney at DLG Law Corporation and the founding head of the firm’s Vancouver office. With a multidisciplinary background in human biology, mechanical engineering, business, and law, he provides strategic cross-border legal counsel grounded in both technical and commercial expertise.
He holds a B.Sc. in Human Biology from the University of Toronto, a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering and a J.D. from the University of British Columbia, and an M.B.A. from York University’s Schulich School of Business. Licensed in British Columbia, Canada, he has over 25 years of experience advising Korean and international corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, project financing, banking and real estate transactions, and energy and resource transactions.
Mr. Shin previously led Korea-related practices as a partner at leading Canadian law firms such as Gowling WLG and Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, and also served as a partner at Yulchon LLC in Seoul. Alongside his legal practice, he has taught international mining transactions, public international law, and cross-border arbitration and negotiation as an adjunct and associate professor at Hanyang University, the University of British Columbia, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
With a deep understanding of Korean and international regulatory frameworks, Mr. Shin provides practical legal solutions to help Korean startups and technology-driven businesses successfully expand into the global market.
