Young Jae Choi is an associate at DLG, where he specializes in civil and administrative litigation, immigration and customs applications and investigations, corporate investigation and anti-corruption review, employment and labor disputes, and bio/medical/pharma matters. Prior to joining DLG, Mr. Choi served as counsel at the National Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission where he advised on litigation and dispute resolution matters among corporate entities across diverse industry sectors and lectured on anti-bribery laws and regulations. Prior to the National Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, Mr. Choi served a director-counsel at the Seoul Immigration Offices. Mr. Choi is an expert in the practice of immigration and customs law and has co-authored an authoritative book in the field titled “Immigration Control Law”. Capitalizing on his experience as the author of the leading treatise on immigration control law and his experience as the director-counsel at the Seoul Immigration Office, he advises various companies on immigration status and visa application processes. Additionally, with broad experience not only in civil and criminal litigation but also in various domestic relations litigation, Mr. Choi brings a broad view on the various legal and business risks in a dispute and provides tailored strategic advice to obtain the best outcomes in the circumstances for the clients. He has won complex business litigations by simply and reasonably laying out the fact and legal principles for the court. He has litigated the down-and-dirty real estate matters concerning ownership, possession, and trust rights. And, he has fearlessly taken on bureaucracies to obtain permits and authorities for factories in administrative courts. Mr. Choi has also accumulated know-how in employment and labor law. He advises domestic and multinational companies to prepare employment agreements, director engagement agreements, and other employment-related documents. He also assists companies through employee and director dismissals and disengagements and litigates improper dismissal of administrative claims and lawsuits. In related matters, Mr. Choi has represented clients in corporate espionage / intellectual property theft matters, especially through the hiring of former employees, and has adeptly worked with investigating agencies to obtain positive outcomes on behalf of clients embroiled in these matters. Finally, Mr. Choi has worked through a platform for medical professionals, and represented individuals, private offices and hospital corporations regarding various medical law and medical administrative law matters. Throughout his career, Mr. Choi has helped clients in matters such as transferring ownership of a rehabilitation center, establishing compliance programs for pharmaceutical companies, and assessing the legality of remote diagnostics under Korean law. He has also acted as trial counsel in medical license suspension proceedings and a Constitutional Court case against penalties under the Medical Practice Act. In his firm commitment to pro bono services, Mr. Choi served as an attorney at the Korea Legal Aid Corporation and is an active participant in various human rights organizations in Korea.
